Master Paws Chicken Feet for Dogs: A Treat Option we Love

I am not sure who gets more excited when it’s time for a treat: dogs or owners. For dog owners, it gives you a break from the constant need for attention (or is that just my dogs…?). And for dogs, well, it’s something special in their day that they don’t always get!

I’ve found that it can be tough to find a treat option that you BOTH love. Some are just way too stinky, and the ones that humans tend to like… are not favorites for dogs. (Probably because they aren’t stinky.)

We’ve tried a lot of treats and one of the ones that continues to top our list: Master Paws Chicken Feet.

Yes, chicken feet.

While they might look a little… gross… to us humans, dogs absolutely LOVE these. The Master Paws Trade Chicken Feet (20 Count) from Menards have become a recent favorite in our house, and I have some thoughts. If you’re looking for a natural treat that won’t break the bank, here is our honest review. (Note: Master Paws and Menards has no idea I am writing this review.)

The “Pawsitive” (What We Loved)

1. The High-Value Excitement Level: There is a lot of excitement when I grab this bag. I would say that Leela is more into this as a treat option than Freddy, but it’s likely because he likes the bigger treat options (more on that below). Because these are dehydrated animal parts rather than a processed biscuit, they seem to view them as a “high-value” reward. It’s perfect for when I really need to get their attention or reward them for being extra good.

2. The Smell (Or Lack Thereof!): OK, those stinky treats. I know my dogs really enjoy them, but if I can smell them from the next room over; I’m not interested. That’s the bonus with these treats! They don’t have a huge smell factor, so it’s not going to stick around on your floor or your hands. And, it doesn’t bother the dogs because see point #1.

3. Perfect for Multi-Dog Households: It can be really hard to find treats that work for both Freddy and Leela, given their sizes. Sometimes I will get Freddy a bigger treat, but then I get the sad panda look from Leela. The Master Paws Chicken Feet come in a natural variety of sizes. I can easily find a larger, crunchier foot for Freddy and a smaller, more manageable one for Leela. Everyone gets a treat that fits their mouth, and nobody gets jealous. (But let’s face it, Leela is the boss so he’s always trying to steal Freddy’s away!)

4. Easy Handling: Because they are dehydrated and dried out, they aren’t greasy or slimy. The dogs can easily grab them in their mouths and trot off to their favorite “snacking spots” without dropping them or struggling to hold onto them. And this means there isn’t leftover residue on my floors. A win-win!

5. Bang for Your Buck: Natural dog chews can get incredibly expensive. This bag comes with 20 count, which is a fantastic value compared to what you usually see at high-end pet stores. It can last awhile, even with two dogs snacking on them quite frequently.

The “Ruff” Parts (What to Watch Out For)

1. The Crumble Factor: Honesty time: These are messy. Because they are dried and crunchy, they tend to shatter a bit as the dogs chew on them. If you have a “vacuum dog” who loves to lick the carpet clean after a snack, this isn’t a problem! But if your dog is a messy eater (oh hey there Freddy!) and leaves the crumbs behind, be prepared to do a quick sweep or run the vacuum after they are done.

The Verdict

Are chicken feet weird looking? Yes.

Do Freddy and Leela care? Absolutely not.

Between the natural glucosamine (great for joints!), the teeth-cleaning crunch, and the unbeatable price, the Master Paws Chicken Feet for dogs have become a staple in our dog treat pantry. They are a single-ingredient treat that keeps the pups happy without stinking up the house.

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 Paws 🐾 (Docked half a point only for the crumbs!)
